Italian Cork

About

Ciao, sono Carolina.

Native Italian from Torino, living and teaching in Cork. Italian Cork has been my school — and this blog — since 2012.

My story

I'm from Torino, in the north of Italy — the home of grissini, the Mole Antonelliana, and (more controversially among my fellow Italians) Juventus. I came to Cork years ago and never quite left.

With a degree in Education and registration with the Irish Teaching Council, I have spent many years teaching Italian to students of all levels. Teaching wasn't the original plan when I arrived, but it turned out to be a perfect fit. I get to share my language and my country with people who are genuinely curious about both — and I get to keep my own Italian alive every single day.

My teaching philosophy

Learning a language should be enjoyable. Lessons are warm, relaxed, and designed to get you speaking Italian from the very first class — not after months of grammar drills. We use a conversational approach that combines real conversation, cultural context, and just enough grammar to give you a solid foundation.

Whether you want to learn Italian for travel, work, connecting with family roots, or simply because you fell in love with the language — there's a class here for you.

Small groups, big results

Classes are deliberately small. In a small group you get more time to speak, more feedback, and a friendlier room where it's perfectly okay to make mistakes (because making mistakes is how you learn).

More than just grammar

Italy is so much more than verb conjugations. On the blog you'll find stories about Italian traditions, regional food, music, cinema, and the small cultural details that make Italian come alive. Learning a language means understanding the people who speak it.
